Why talk about Caltrain in a high-speed rail blog? Because Caltrain is about to lose high-speed rail which was intended to utilize the Caltrain corridor and thereby ostensibly save Caltrain's behind by paying for all the upgrades to the corridor. That's why. Caltrain's logic is highly flawed, but that's not all that's wrong with this picture.
Caltrain is shopping for a new rail operator contract. That's a good thing to do since Amtrak only knows how to pad its payroll.
Below are SamTrans and Caltrain salaries. There are many six figure salaries here and there are many in the high $80s and $90s.
Unless "Friends of Caltrain" and all the other "Save Caltrain" advocates decide to start doing some real homework about Caltrain, they have no business advocating anything. They need to make sure that they are not also saving the bathwater while they try to save the baby, if you see what I mean.
By the way, I just was taught how to make the links, below, "hot." Lesson learned.
